SOUTHERN DAIRY OUTLOOK
BRIGHT PROSPECTS Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, DecemberlB. The secretary of the South Island Dairy Association supplies the inc information as to the 110 tacto . r .„® controlled by that body that production has been wonderfully stimulated by the ”ood rains in November, the output at present being quite up to the average for the middle of December, in spite of the backward spring. As a fact, the Dai y Board figures show an increase over last season. This improvement is P artlc " iarly noticeable in Otago and Southland. The dry spell was very prolonged in Canterbury, but that district is now sharing in the meteorological blessing. It is observed that top-dressing has much improved the quality of the grass, and herd-testing is a big factor m the increased production. Owners now see the great benefit that accrues from weeding out the poor cattle and they are going in. for testing willingly and not merely as a duty.
