NAPIER GIRL’S 50-YARDS RUN By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, November 29. The world’s; record for a fifty yards sprint by women was lowered at Waipukurau to-night by Miss E. Hoyle, of Napier, her time being 6 l-10sec., which is one-fifth of a second better than the previous record held by Miss Helen Filkey, of South Africa. Miss Hoyle ran against four other ladies, to whom she conceded various starts, and easily beat them all. . Two watches made the time six second* dead, and another two one-tenth longer, which is the time credited. Miss Hoyle set out with the idea of attacking the New Zealand record of six and two-fifths seconds, held by Miss Jackson, of Carterton.

The track was specially surveyed for the attempt, and the race was run in a dead calm. The time will be claimed as a world’s record.
