PART-TIME POSTMEN

WORK FOR DISABLED RETURNED MEN

Dominion Special Service.

Christchurch, November 29.

The scheme under which disabled returned soldiers are to be employed as extra part-time postmen in the city area has now been brought into operation, and this week four men donned the bag and started on their rounds. The scheme at present is merely an experiment, and it is not known whether more men will be employed. The men, who this week are accompanying the regular postmen and learning the details of their work, will act as additional men on the city rounds. The service should go a long way towards alleviating the position with regard to the quick delivery of mails to city business houses.
