HOME OF AGED AND NEEDY

CONCERT BY VICTORIA COLLEGE STUDENTS. A most enjoyable evening was spent by flic inmates -of tho Home of Aged and Needy, Newtown, on Monday, when a concert parly of students from Victoria College rendered a first-class programme of instrumental trios, piano, violin, and ’cello solos, songs, recitations, and community singing. Au unaccompanied quartet bj' four men of tiic party was htglilj' appreciated, also two songs by Mr. IV. Potter,, wlio sang “Take a . Pair of Sparkling Eyes" and “Somewhere a Voice is Calling. ' Mrs. Brooks, who is 91 years of age, by special request gave two recitations in a charming manner, anil at the conclusion was presented with a posy. These entertainments arc a source of great pleasure to the inmates, and cheers them up wonderfully. Thej- showed their appreciation b.v the raanj- encores thej’ called for. One of the inmates, who proposed a very lieartj- vote of thanks, said they would all look forward to a return visit, which was promised. A party of girl Hangers from St. Mark’s were present, and provided with the Training College students, a splendid supper, and watted on the old folks. Thej' promised to come and give an entertainment nt an early date. Thanks are due to Mr. G. Petheriek, chairman of trustees, who arranged for the concert, also to Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster and staff for the excellent arrangements made b.v tlicm.
