GOOD BATTING

WOOLLEY SCORES 209 TURNBULL GETS A CENTURY NEW SOUTH WALES IN AGAIN (United Preea Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rea November 25, 10,30 p.m.) Sydney, November 25. In a great partnership yielding 269 runs, Woolley and Turnbull gave a delightful exhibition. The New South Wales bowling lacked variety, and Woolley scored all round the wicket. Turnbull, however, was very restrained, choosjng only loose balls to score from. Upon attaining a hundred he was smartly caught by Bradman off his own bowling. Worthington met a similar fate, being smartly taken by Hooker, but Woolley went on to a double century. This is Woolley’s sixth century on a Sydney cricket ground, and his biggest total made in Australia. A hard chance to the wicket-keeper, Allsopp, who was substituting for Old-' field, was his only blemish. Rain caused short adjournments. Woolley’s long innings came to an end shortly after tea. He was batting for 244 minutes. He hit twenty-four 4’s. Fairfax secured two ( wickets with successive balls. Two appeals by the same bowler for leg-before against Barratt in the next two balls were, however, disallowed. Legge batted attractively before spooning a ball up to squareleg. Bowley is still unfit to play. The New South Wales fielding was ragged. Fairfax and Jackson, who commenced New South Wales’s second innings, batted steadily until a seventh appeal against the light was successful. The following are the scores:— ENGLAND.
