METHODS OF A SPY
— — SLEEP-GIVING KISSES London, November 23. The Baroness Calra Jenssen, of Danish origin, interviewed in Paris, desscribes her career as a secret agent, outstanding in the European spy service. She is only twenty-seven and beautiful. Her method was to plant sleei>-giving kisses and then go through a man’s baggage. She said she would never forget her first' attempt on a man who was sent to Europe by a revolutionary committee to arrange a secret purchase of arms. She traced him to a Belgian seaside resort, spread some Indian narcotic on her lips, and used a wafer to neutralise the effects in case she swallowed some of the drug. She then vamped and kissed him. He soon became drowsy, whereupon she commenced to go through his baggage. The handsome Oriental suddenly awoke and cried out, “You darned spy,” and presented a revolver and shot her in the fleshy part of the right calf. She had the presence of mind to hit him on the head with a hunting crop. She escaped with confederates in a motor-car with the man’s papers. She fainted. She had bungled the job, but she had prevented a big contraband shipment of arms which might have stirred a revolt. After that she never trusted a single kiss to put a man to sleep.
