Sir, —Tn this morning’s issue of your paper the following appears under the above beading:— “The Hutt River Board’s statement of accounts for the year 11)27-28 was examined by members. It was stated that the loan indebtedness amounted to £62,587. with only £3718 accrued sinking funds; receipts ” I shall be glad if you will publish the following in reply : — The amount of £3718 is the accrued sinking funds on two loans only amounting to £14,000—£5000 becoming due in 1953 and £9OOO in 1956. the separate amounts of sinking funds being £715/19/1 and £3002/11/7 respectively. The balance of the board’s indebtedness, amounting to £45.587/16/6. is au Inscribed Loan, and reduces itself by approximately £5OOO per annum, commencing in 1931 to 1935 inclusive; in 1936 by £l5OO, and 1940 by £1024. From 1942 to 1945 the balance of the loan is repaid. This is shown in the balance-sheet for the year 1927-28, whilst for the year 1928-29, which bal-ance-sheet was also forwarded to the Civic Association, the accrued sinking funds for the £14,000 loans amount to £4262.
