St. John’s Church Annual Report. In recording another year of progress, the annual report of St. John’s Presbyterian Church states that the 506 members who attended the June communion service was the second largest number in the history of the church. The record attendance was in the church’s jubilee year, 1913, when there were 586 present. During the past year the membership had increased by 73 and the number on the roll at present was 767. This total represented an increase of 255 during the ministry of the Rev. J. R. Blanchard. Appreciation of the work of Mr. M. D. Menelaus, who lias been session clerk for 27 years, is also expressed. All the auxiliary organisations connected with the church are shown to have had a good year, and to be in a prosperous state. Social at Upper Hutt. An enjoyable and successful social gathering in connection with St. David’s Presbyterian Church. Upper Hutt, was held in the Druids’ Hall. The hall was crowded, and the whole proceedings were characterised by great, heartiness and goodwill. The minister (Rev. G. W. Hunt) presided. During the evening an entertaining programme was presented, the following contributing items: —Pianoforte duets. Mesdames Whiteman and Hirschorne, and Misses Whiteman ; solos wore rendered by Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Hirschorne. Miss F. Whiteman; vocal duet, the Misses Whiteman; recitation, Miss Inez Hunt; clarinet solo, Mr. F. Castle; cornet solo, Mr. Neighbors; Scotch reading. Rev. G. W. Hunt. Mrs. F. Whiteman acted as accompanist. Mr. J. O. Duff moved, and Mr. W. Greig seconded. a hearty vote of thanks to t]ie performers and the ladies for providing refreshments, and toward the elose of the gathering parlour games provided enjoyment to old and young.
