MEMORIAL AT AWAPUNI LAKELET AND FOUNTAIN The memory of the men of the New Zealand Aicdical Corps who fell in the Great War is to be perpetuated by a memorial placed on the racecourse at Awapuni, near Palmerston North, where they underwent training before proceeding overseas.
' Through the generosity of the’Man-, watu Racing Club, which owns the course at Awapuni the placing of a memorial there has been made possible. The memorial comprises a cross-shaped lakelet, whigk, with flower beds set into the corners formed by the arms of the cross, is reminiscent of the huge red crosses which were set in the ground to indicate the presence of a hospital in the .war zones.
