SUMMER BLOOMS

PALMERSTON NORTH SHOW Dominion Svecial Service. Palmerston North, November 16. In spite of the very bad season, there was a particularly good _ display of blooms at the Palmerston North Horticultural' Society’s summer show this after- . noon. The high wind, ami bad weather which has been playing havoc with suburban gardens, caused the rather poor number'of entries, but considering the ■ setback the competitors had in the weather, the blooms displayed were very good. „ “It’s a wonder there are any flowers here at all, after the weather we have been having, and especially after yesterday’s high winds,” commented one well- . known nurseryman. • ' The champion rose iu the show, and fthc best bloom in the amateur and novice sections was Mrs. Webby’s (Carnarvon) ' ‘-Dean Hole.” The nurserymen’s trophy ; for the best six varieties of roses grown by an amateur went to W.
