AUTOMATIC FIRE ALARMS
PROPOSED COMPULSION The question of compelling owners of business premises to install automatic fire alarms has been considered by the By-laws Committee of the City Coun cil, but the committee referred it to the City Council for a decision. On Thursday night the council decided to discuss it after the ordinary business. Subsequently it was decided to ask the Government to allow Inspector Hugo to present a report to the council as to'the advisability of compulsory Are protection by the installation of auto matic fire alarms and sprinklers. The city solicitor was also request ed to report upon the powers of the council in this direction.
