DEVONIAN SOCIETY

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. A large number of Devonians met on Wednesday in connection with a Devonian Society, which was formed a fortnight previously. Mr. R. E. Manley presided. The president presented a set of rules which had been framed by a committee set up for that purpose, and after consideration they were passed. The election of officers resulted as follows President. Mr. R. E. Manley; vice-presidents. Messrs. Brindsen and Brokenshire: treasurer. Mr. Jeffrey; auditor. Mr. Jones: trustees, Messrs. Pillar and Alexander: committee. Mesdames E. Jones, Vernon. Dotson, and Miss U. Cole, Messrs F. J. W. Fear. E. B. Jones, and R. C. Nott. The president asked for contributions of books, papers, and any matter relating to Devonian folklore, and contributions were received in the way of papers. It was decided to hold general meetings at least once a quarter. After the business of the meeting was over, refreshments were provided by the lady members. Musical and elocutionary items were given by Miss Betty Manley and Messrs. Brokenshire, Daw and Read. The accompanist nt the piano '-as Mr E. B. Jones. . The • “sident thanked Mrs. Trigg, who had lent the room, the ladies who had provided the catering, and those who rendered musical and elocutionary items. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” and the National Anthem brought a most successful meeting to a close.
