MANCHESTER DESIRES DIRECT SHIPMENTS London, November 1. Manchester’s desire for more direct shipments from New Zealand was conveyed by the Lord Mayor to Sir James Pari- on the occasion of his special visit as the guest of the Ship Canal Company. Sir James Parr, who also attended a conference of fifty merchants, hinted that it might help if they increased their New Zealand butter and cheese purchases, which are now comparatively small alongside New Zealand’s extensive purchases of Manchester manufactures.
