The English team in the first match of their tour beat Western Australia by seven wiekets. There, was a large attendance yesterday. • The weather was dull at the commencement, but cleared up, and there was bright sunshine in the afternoon. Rain overnight had made the wicket like putty, but it dried rapidly and was easy in the afternoon. The IVestern Australians, who on Friday had made 59 for one wicket, collapsed, and were dismissed for 68 more runs, after 78 minutes. Their complete innings lasted 148 minutes for 127 runs. Earle made a spectacular catch, with his back to the batsman. Horrocks. Bowley’s bad hand caused him early to miss Horrocks, but he had bis revenge, dismissing five for 30. England had the advantage of a better wicket, which made the task of gaining a victory fairly easy. Duleepsinhji , delighted the crowd with sparkling play, making the winning hit to the boundary.
