MR. J. R. MACDONALD

VOYAGE TO UNITED STATES

Australian Prew Association. (Rec. October 2, 7 p.m.)

New York, October L

On board the Berengaria Mr. J. R. JlacDonald enjoyed a day comparatively free from pre-occupatlon in official affairs.

Indications of the widespread interest in his voyage throughout the United States and Canada have come to him from many sources. He is grateful to know that the tremendous interest he attaches to his visit is shared so widely. It is understood that while he is in Canada some definite progress in the settlement of the British unemployed problem will result. The Prime Minister spent the day in reading and sitting for his portrait, and with his daughter in the evening watched a carnival dinner and dance, but retired early. Later Miss Ishbe) joined tile party and danced until after 11 o'clock. The Prime Minister so far has taken all his meals in the public diningroom and has mingled with the passengers.
