TRANSFER OF BATTLESHIPS FROM MALTA TO ATLANTIC ADMIRALTY STATES REASONS (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, August 3. The Admiralty states that it has been decided to transfer the battleships Barham, Malaya, Queen Elizabeth, and Valiant to the Atlantic Fleet, leaving the Warspite as the fleet flagship in the Mediterranean. The transfer will take place as soou'as is practicable after the completion of the Mediterranean summer cruise, approximately in the middle of next November. The administrative changes which will result from this rearrangement of fleets will be announced in due course. The Queen Eliza’ eth will probably return to the Mediterranean as fleet flagship on the completion of her refit iu 1930, the Warspite joining the Atlantic Fleet. This change is being effected in order to relieve congestion i. M Ita harbour and local recreation facilities and also to provide more home service for the personnel.
