INFECTIOUS DISEASES
DISTRICT NOTIFICATIONS A decrease of twelve is recorded in the notifications of infectious diseases for the week ended at noon yesterday, when compared with the 74 cases for the preceding seven days. This improvement is largely due to the position in the central Wellington sub-district, where the notifications have dropped from 38 to 29. The figures for the various hospital districts are as follow, those for the previous week being given in parentheses:— Wanganui-Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 10 (8) ; diphtheria, 1 (2) ; pneumonia, 2 (7) ; erysipelas, 0 (1); eclampsia, 0 (1) ; total, 13 (19). Wairarapa-llflwke’s Bay: Scarlet fever, 5 (3) ; diphtheria, 1 (2) ; enteric fever, 1 (0) ; cerebro-spinal meningitis, 2 (0) ; pneumonia, 1 (8) ; hydatids, 1 (0) ; puerperal fever, 0 (1) ; total, 17 (14). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 5 (9) ; diphtheria, 13 (9) ; tuberculosis, 3 (4) ; pneumonia, 5 (12) ; erysipelas, 1 (0) : puerperal fever, 1 (1) ; chronic lead poisoning, 1 (0) ; pneumonic influenza, 0 (1) ; ophthalmia neonatorum, 0 (1) ; lethargic encephalitis, 0 (1) ; total, 29 (38). Nelson-Marlborough: Scarlet fever, 3 (2) ; tuberculosis, 0 (1) ; total, 3 (3). Grand total: 63 ( 74).
