LONG SOLO FLIGHT
CANADIAN AIRMAN’S NONSTOP FEAT TO LEAVE FOR JAPAN IN FEW DAYS Australian Press Assn.—United Service. (Rec. July 21, 11 p.m.) Washington, July 19. At Tacoma, Lieutenant Harold Bromley, a native of Victoria, 8.0., formerly of the R.A.F., completed a non-stop flight from Los Angeles on Friday evening in a special Lockheed monoplane named Oity of Tacoma, in which within a few days he plans to start a non-stop solo flight to Japan. He has extensively tested the aeroplane in California, and has tested himself to withstand sleep. Twenty thousand persons welcomed him, National Guardsmen controlling the throngs. The air-line distance from Los Angeles to Tacoma, which is situated just south of Seattle, is nearly a thousand miles.
