BURGLARS EMPTY CASHBOX Dominion Special Service. ■ ‘ Carterton, July ?0The premises of the Eagle Brewery De,pot in High Street, *. Carterton were broken into during > Friday night or the early hours of this morning. An eatrance was gained “by breaking , a window hear its catch, which enabled the window to be opened. From the position of entrance it was necessary to pass through two rooms to reach the office and to open one of the doors the intruders had to move some of the stock. The door nearest-to the offiec was locked from the outside, - and to open this- the burglars broke out a lower panel of the door. This gave them easy access to the office, and then, without any apparnet difficulty—for nothing' else was disturbed —the cash box was removed from another box in which it was kept hidden under a table and emptied of its contents, amounting approximately to £ll. The' burglars then left t;he premises by means of the back door,-which was found open this morning.,/; j
