MIRAMAR LADIES BEAT MANOR PARK
An inter-club match for the Lance George Challenge Cup was played yesterday between Manor Park and Miramar Ladies’ Golf Clubs, resulting in a win for Miramar by six matches to one. Following are the results, Manor Park players ’mentioned first:—
Miss Whitwell lost to Miss G. Upham, 2 down; Miss Newman lost to Miss Hanson, 3 and 2; Miss Stevens lost to Miss Wheeler, 7 and 6; Mrs. Butler beat Miss Low, 3 up; Mrs. Sherwood lost to Mrs. O’Leary, 1 down; Mrs. Marshall lost to Mrs. Caughley, 6 and 5; Miss Gibbons lost to Miss J. Hall, 7 and 5.
WELLINGTON LADIES’ CLUB
The draw for the Ladies’ Golf Union competition in connection with the Wellington I-adies’ Club, to be played at the week-end, is ns follows: Mlsß Shortland v. Miss Cox, Mrs. de Ernest v. Miss N. Morgan, Miss Edginton v. Miss Cooney, Miss Jackson v. Miss Martin, Miss Selig v. Miss Welsh, Miss Battersby v. Mrs. Coulter, Miss V. Morgan v. Miss O’Connell, Miss Henderson a bye.
MANOR PARK LADIES’ CLUB
In a match to be played against Miramar ladies at Manor Park on Saturday the team is as follows:—Miss Whitwell, Miss Newman, Miss Stevens, Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Sherwood, Mrs, Marshall, Miss Mulholland, Miss Bray, Miss Gibbons, Miss Kerr, Mrs. Clarke, and Miss Lockett. Emergencies: Miss Fairbrother and Miss Murphy. The best scores returned for the Ladies’ Golf Union match played last week were:—Senior: Mrs. Butler, 77 net. Junior : Mrs. Marshall, 70 net. SHANDON CLUB Owing to the heavy nature of the links, 110 matches wore played last week-end. The men’s team against Manor Park (at Shandon) on Saturday next, will be picked from the following:-—M. R. VICTORIAN TOURNEY The secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association has received programmes and entry forms from Australia for the Victorian amateur championship meeting, which is to be held on the Commonwealth Golf Club’s links, Oakleigh, Melbourne, from August 3 to 9, under the management of the Victorian Golf Association. There are only two events, the amateur championship of Victoria, open to amateurs whose handicap does not exceed 6. Two qualifying rounds of 18 holes, stroke play the first sixteen to play off by match play (all matches 38 holes) on Monday, August 5, and three following days. The other event is the men’s foursome amateur championship of Victoria. 36 holes, stroke play on Friday, August 9. Entries close at Melbourne on July 17.
