The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle) is expected to return to Wellington to-day from Auckland.

Dr. C. J. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture, is visiting Whangarel, to attend the National Dairy Association’s Conference. Professor H. Belshaw, Professor of Economics at the Auckland University College, has been appointed a New Zealand delegate to the conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations in Tokio next November. He has been granted leave Of absence by the college council.

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pllmmer, of Khantlallali, have returned from a visit to Sydney and Melbourne. Mr. F. J. Bennett, assistant lecturer in English at Canterbury College, has resigned. Dr. Helen Simpson will undertake his work for the remainder of this term.

Mr. J. W. Hadfield, agronomist to the Department of Agriculture, who hag been stationed at Christchurch, has been transferred to Palmerston North.

Dr. H. D. A. Major, principal of Ripon Hall, Oxford, and a leading English Modernist, will preach at the opening of the Waikato Synod next Monday. Dr. Major was formerly a St. John’s College student and vicar of Hamilton from 1809 to 1902. Mr. H. E. Field, lecturer in philosophy at Canterbury College, has resigned, having been awarded a Research Fellowship lii Psychology for study abroad. '

Mr. William Brock is retiring from the Canterbury College Board of Governors after seventeen years’ continuous service thereon.
