MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Police cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday were dealt with by Messrs. I. Salek and A. Longinore, J.P.’s. Tom Dustin, aged 53, was fined the amount of his bail, 10s., for a second offence of drunkenness, and on a similar charge Michael James Johnston, aged 43, was fined 10s., in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. “I think the best place for you is to lock you up for a month; it will do you good,” said Mr. Salek to Harry Thomas Betts, aged 30, whom he sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for using obscene language. On a charge of resisting Constable E. J. Grove in the lawful execution of his duty, Betts was convicted and discharged.
