PIANOFORTE RECITAL
There was a large and enthusiastic audience at the Y.W.C.A. Hall last night when Miss Vera Boesley gave a pianoforte recital, assisted by Miss Gertrude Johnston and Miss Belle Renaut. Miss Boesley chose her programme with care, allowing for opportunity in contrasts ot old with most modern music. hour bracketed numbers, “Pavane, by Byrde, “Tempo di Ballo," by Scarlatti, , Andante and Variations in F Minor, t>y Haydn, and Chopin’s “Prelude in E Flat and F Major,” were given with intelligence and feeling. Miss Boesley shows very decided promise in her performance, although in some of the legarto passages there was a slight tendency to slur. She will certainly be heard of again. Two charming duets for two pianos were played by Miss Gertrude Johnston and Miss Boesley, “Pierrot Triste,” by Cyril Scott, and Cabaletta, by Lack. Later in the MendelssohnLiszt arrangement of “Hochzeitsmarsh und Elfeureigen” Miss Boesley gave, a very fair rendering of this somewhat long march. Her final bracket consisted ot “Serenade d’Arlequln,” by Schult, Sing a Song of Sixpence” Rhapsody in C” (Dohnamje), and To the Moon,” by Swinstead, which were delicately and charmingly played. Miss Belie Renaut is the possessor of a beautitui mezzo-soprano voice and was heard to advantage in “Ah se tu dormt, from “Guiletta et Romeo,” by Vaccaj, and “Lithuanian Song” by Chopin, for which she was enepred, giving "Ma Lindy Lou, by Lily Strickland. Miss Gertrude Johnston played the accompaniments, and with Miss Boesley play in a duet of the “Hungarian Fantasie,” by Liszt, which concluded the programme.
