Dannevirke, May 3. The local branch of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union at its annual meeting was able to declare a good profit on the year’s working, the balance in hand being £27. The meeting decided to endeavour to form sub-branches in the surrounding country settlements, and to this end county members were asked to arrange for regular meetings in their centres and to enlist wider interest among the country women. The meeting elected the following officers :—-President, Mrs. E. F. Barker (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, . Mesdames A. McLeod and L. M. Espagne; executive. Mesdames V. F. B. Rogers. H. E. Reynolds, J. C. Schenck, A. E. Bayliss. H. Prenter, T. Fothergill, E. Campbell, H. Ferguson, C. R. Redward, Misses McDowell, and M. Schenck; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. P. Whibley (re-elected).
