The Federal Company advise that the Northumberland, which is to leave Liverpool on June 8 for New Zealand ports, will include New Plymouth among her ports of discharge. She will unload at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and New Plymouth. KENT LEAVES PANAMA. A cable message to the Federal Co. reports that the Kent left Panama on April 30 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyt- ‘ telton, Dundein, and New Plymouth, en 1 route from Liverpool. The vessel is due ' at Auckland on May 22, and at Wellington a week later. ] I RADIO FROM CANADIAN BRITISHER. The Canadian National Steamships received a wireless message yesterday from 1 the Canadian Britisher, en route from

Halifax, stating that the vessel will arrive at Auckland at noon to-morrow, and at Wellington next Friday. KENT LEAVES PANAMA. Cabled news has been received by the Federa’ Company that the Kent left Panama last Tuesday for New Zealand ports, en route from Liverpool. She is due at Auckland on May 22, and at Wellington a week later. OIL FROM SINGAPORE. Advice has been received bj’ the Shell Oil Company that the tanker Phorus is en route from Singapore to Auckland with a cargo of oil for discharge at that port. She is due there about Monday week. HUNTINGDON TO LOAD. The Huntingdon arrived at Bluff at 9 a.m. yesterday from Dunedin, to put out the remainder of her London cargo, and to commence loading. The vessel will leave Bluff on Tuesday evening for Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due here on May 12, and will leave on Maj’ !■> for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. Jhe Huntingdon will sail from Auckland on May 24 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow, and Liverpool. THE PORT DARWIN. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Darwin will leave Wellington at 6 o clock this morning for Napier, Gisborne, aua Auckland. She is timed to sail from Auckland on May 14 for New York. Boston, Halifax, and London. PIAKO DUE TUESDAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company received a wireless message yesterday from the Piako. en route from Cardiff. stating that she will arrive at Wellington at 10 o’clock next Tuesday night. which is under command of captain Laird, will discharge all her cargo at Wellington. The Piako is expected to leave Wellington next Saturday to load at Oamaru. Timaru, and Bluff. She will return from Bluff to Wellington, to fill up. arriving back here on May -7. and is to sail on May 30 for London. THE The Union Company report that tne Walruna, from Pacific Coast ports, is due at Auckland on Tuesday. She k} te r Proceeds to Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, and New Plymouth to complete discharge. THE TUTANEKAI. . The Government steamer Tutanekai has finished her work nt the lighthouses at North Cape and Cape Marla Van Diemeu, and was to have left Ilokianga last night for Kaipara. She is expected to arrive back at Wellington towards the end of next week. THE “BAY" LINERS. , The success of the one class only 1 Bay | steamers has been fully demonstrated, and the number of passengers who leave New Zealand for England by this route is steadily increasing. - The Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line, under whose auspices the five Bay steamers are operated, have decided to reconstruct the passenger accommodation, many Important improvements having been provided for. The five fast oilburning steamers, Esnerance Bay. Hobson’s Bay, Jarvis Bay. Largs Bay, and Moretou Bay, carrying only one class of passenger, are to lie thoroughly’ overhauled and remodelled. Twenty-three two-berth . cabins with windows opening on to the promenade deck will be added, as well as a large number of two-berth porthole' cabins on the main deck. These will be available at moderate rates. In addition, it. has been decided to furnish more public rooms, including a children’s playroom: and the boat-deck will be available to passengers. Bookings may be made through Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., chief New Zealand agents of the line, also through any agents of Messrs. Shaw, Savill, anti Albion Co. Ltd., or Messrs. Thomas Cook and Son.

Mr. Ronald McKenzie, a member of the 1 Union Co.’s permanent wharf staff, who has retired, and is proceeding to Melbourne, was presented by his colleagues last evening with a brief bag, cardigan Jacket, and a pair of slippers. The Waipahl has been placed In commission at Auckland, and Captain G. B. Hoddlnott is in command: his deck officers are as follow:—Chief, Mr. W. Johnson; second, Mr. N. H. Pearson; third, Mr. D. L. Turner. „ Mr. H. L. P. Brown has relieved Mr. C. Burgess, chief officer of the Waiotapu for holidays. Mr. C. R. Carlyon is being appointed temporary third officer of .’lie Waiotapu, relieving Mr. L. R, Leader for holidays. Mr. R. Allan has joined the Kamo as second officer relieving Mr. I. B. Dyinoek, who has transferred to the Kiwitea tn a similar capacity, relieving Mr. J. H, Ibbotson for Instructions. The Waipahl recommissioned nt Auckland with the following engineers:—Chief, Mr. C. W. Plrie; second,; Mr. L. W. Williams: third, Mr. W. A. Atkinson; elect., Mr. G. Wright. Mr. N. McCalg has rejoined the Mannganui as chief engineer after being ashore on holiday leave. The following senior engineers have been appointed to the Maheno:—Chief, Mr. W. W. Houghton: second, Mr. W. A. Scott; third, Mr. G. Earl; fourth, Mr. H. Vartha. Mr. 11. G. Whyte hns been appointed third engineer of the Kalranga. MISCELLANEOUS. The Otira left Wellington shortly before 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon for London, via Montevideo and Tenerlffe. A radio message from the Canadian Challenger reports that the vessel will arrive at Wellington early this morning from Dunedin, to load for New York, Boston, «nd Montreal. The Port Hunter Is due at Wellington on Tuesday from Lyttelton, for further loading. She will leave on Thursday morning for Picton. The Port Napier is due at Wanganui todaj- from Lyttelton. She next proceeds to Wellington, and is due here next Thursday to till up. The Port Campbell is due at Opua tonight from Port Kemtfla, to commence loading She will leave on Tuesday night for New Plymouth. Tile City of Adelaide arrived at Wellington last evening from New i’ork, via Auckland. She is to leave here on Wednesday /for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Cambridge arrived at Dunedin at 11.30 a.m. yesterday from Lyttelton, to complete discharge of her Liverpool cargo, and to commence loading. She will leave Dunedin on Wednesday for Lyttelton. The Devon arrived at Port Chalmers at 11.30 a.m. yesterday from Bluff, for further loading. She Is to sail on Tuesday for Timaru. The liner Rotorua left Wellington at 5 o'clock last evening for New Plymouth, to complete discharge of her London cargo. ’The Totara will leave Timaru on Mondav for Lyttelton. Wellington, and New Plymouth, and is due here on Wednesday. The Putiki, from Napier, is due;here on Monday,- and will leave on Tuesday for Napier and Gisborne. The Wingatui was to have left Dunedin yesterda.v via ports for Wellington and Auckland. The Pakura will leave here to-day for Westport and Greymouth. The Kurow will load cement at Portland next week for Wellington and Lyttelton. The Waipiata will leave Auckland to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, and Bluff, and Is due here on Monday. The Kalranga, from Lyttelton and Picton, is due here on Tuesday, and goes on to Napier and Auckland. The Komata Is due here this morning from. Westport, and will return on Tuesday to load again for Wellington. The Titahi Is due here on Tuesday from Nelson, and goes on the patent slip for cleaning and painting. The Corinna will leave here to-day for Dunedin, whore she will load northwards for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. The John, from Lyttelton, is due here on Tuesday, anti goes on to Wanganui and Now Plymouth. The Regains is due here to-morrow from Wanganui, and will leave on Monday for Tarakohe.
