BAPTIST MISSIONS
To-morrow, throughout the Dominion, Baptist churches will commence a week ot self-denial on behalf of missionary funds. It is hoped thereby to raise the stun of £2300 to meet the demands upon their resources. Although a comparatively small company of folk in New Zealand, • they rank high in missionary giving and enthusiasm. They maintain ten white missionaries in Eastern Bengal, besides a large number of native evangelists and Bible women. At Chandpur they have a well-equipped hospital, with a qualified and experienced Indian doctor in charge. Thev also run an efficient dispensary, and conduct preaching services in bazaars and streets, or wherever the people gather. In New Zealand they raise about one pound npr member per annum for missions, ipec “1 seM will be held in heir churches to-morrow, , th °se at ViviaTi Street being conducted by tbe Harry. In the afternoon, the Kev.■ J o b» 'Takle, who served for thirty years in India, will address a rally of Bible classes.
