The Alinister of Labour (Hon. AV. A. Veitch) will return to Wellington from Wanganui to-morrow night. The Postmaster-General (Hon. J. B. Donald) returned to Wellington yesterday from Auckland. The Alinister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. J. G. Cobbe) will leave Wellington on Monday on a visit to Pohangina, Raumai, Umutai, and Apiti. The Alinister of Lands (Hon. G. W. Forbes) will leave Wellington to-day on an extended visit to the New Plymouth, Wfiitonio, Hamilton, Waikato. Kuglam Franklin, llauraki, and Thames electorates. He expects to return to Wellington on Alay 22. Sir James Gunson arrived in Wellington from the north yesterday. Air, A. W- Ironside, organiser for the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, has gone into a Christchurch hospital to undergo a serious operation. Air- H. I- Graves last night resigned the bon. treasureship of the New Zealand Football Association after holding office for nine years. Air. E. J. Chapman, at present station master at Woodlands, has received notice of his transfer to the position of assistant audit inspector, with headquarters at Wellington. Air. H. Coxhead, of the Mt. Cook Motor Co. and Tongariro Park Tourist Co., will leave shortly for a trip to England, Canada and America. It is Mr. Coxhead’s intention to make a close study of the methods employed in those countries in the matter of tourist and transport services. At the annual meeting of the Now Zealand Football Association last night the chairman, Air, A. E. Wells, spoke f. Singly of the losses the association had suffered by the deaths of Sir Charles Skerrett, Air. W. Auld, and Air. L. Atkinson. He particularly stressed the loss to the game through the death of Air. Auld.

The resignation of Dr. Riley, Anglican Archbishop of Perth and Aletropolitan of the province of Western Australia, will take effect as from July 31. Dr. Riley, now seventy-five years of age, was appointed Bishop of Perth in 1594, and Archbishop twenty years later. Born in Birmingham (England) in 1854,the son of a clergyman, he was ordained a priest in 1879 and fifteen years later was elected Bishop of Perth, his See being the whole of Western Australia, and therefore one of the largest in the Empire. After the outbreak of the war he was appointed Chaplain-General to the Australian Military Forces, and with them saw eighteen months’ service at the front.

The funeral of the late Mr. William Wallace Todd took place at Karori Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Wreaths were sent by friends and old printing associates of the deceased, also from the directors of the “Dominion” and the staffs of the composing and commercial departments, the late Air. Todd having been printer of “The Dominion” for several years until his retirement about six years ago. The chief mourner was Air. Herbert Todd, second son of the deceased, and there were present a considerable number of those who had been associated with deceased on “The Dominion," including Air. C. W. Earle, managing editor, Air. G. S. McNair, secretary, and Air. A. Sando, manager. A short service was held in the city at 2 p.m., and this and the service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. A. B. Todd. Paymaster Captain H. W. E. Alanisty. R.N., whose appointment as Paymaster Director-General was announced in London on March 26, will be the fourth holder of his new post, which was created in 1918 in order to give the accountant branch of the Navy representation within the Admiralty on a similar footing to the. medical and engineer branches. Since June, 1927, he has been Port Accountant Officer and Port Librarian at Portsmouth, and for two years before that was Deputy-Judge Advocate of the Fleet. He was specially promoted to paymaster for services in the China War of 1900, and after being secretary to Admiral Sir Reginald Henderson at the Coastguard and Reserves Office in 1905-10, he accompanied him to Australia to advise on the constitution of the Commonwealth Navy, and became the first Finance and Civil Alember of the Naval Board at Alelbourne. During the late war lie was engaged on special Admiralty service, and in 1917 became Organising Alanager of Convoys, which work, Lord Jellieoe wrote in his book “The Crisis of the Naval War,” “was carried through with quite exceptional skill by Paymaster Commander H. W. E. Alanisty.” After the war he served on the Admiral’s staff in China, ami in January, 1922, became Superintendent of the Secretaries’ Course at Portsmouth. He became a barrister-at-law (Gray’s Inn) in 1908.

Air. Scott Colville, the well-known theatrical manager, arrived in Wellington last evening to make arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Sir Harry Lauder and his company.
