RUGBY FOOTBALL

TO-DAY’S CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES This afternoon the Wellington Rugby Union's championship competitions in the senior A. senior B, junior, fourth, and secondary schools’ grades will be set "'Excellent entertainment should be provided at Athletic Park, where Melrose and University will meet in the senior B competition at 1.30. This match will be a curtain-raiser to the star game of the day at 3 o'clock, when I'niversity, last year’s champion team, will be opposed by Old Boys. Some sparkling form should be revealed in this game, as both teams are noted for their open style of play. Followers of the game at Petone are equally fortunate, as Athletic and Petone are set down to meet on Petone Oval. Both fifteens have been reinforced by several new players this season, and to-day s game should provide a line on the strength of the teams. The other games in the senior A competition will be: Poneke v. Berliampore, at Newtown Park; Oriental v. Marist, at Prince of Wales Park; ana Wellington v. Eastbourne, at Eastbourne. In tjje senior B competition.
