KARORI RIFLE CLUB On Saturday afternoon the members of the Karori Rifle Club fired a sweepstake competition in the form of a pairs a'at® ll ’ over ranges at 300 yards, 500 yards, and 600 yards, seven shots at each distance. The weather conditions were not of the best, a variable light, a tricky right wind and light rain at intervals, all tending to put a severe test on good marksmanship. The best range scores were made by «. <'• «• Haase at 300 yards with 32, at 000 yards b> F W Ching 32 and B. Dunn 32, and at 600 when the weather conditions were least favourable, by H. P. Dore, who scored a brilliant 34. F. W. Ching headed the list for the day with a well-stored 94. The pairs match was won by !'• wChing (94) and H. P. Dore (93) Y> th w total of 187 points, B. Keene (JO) and M . J. H. Haase (93) being second with 183 points. The scores were as follow. — .

R. D. Potts W Next Saturday afternoon the second and final, stage of the Willoughby Cup competition will be completed. The conditions for this stage are similar to th ‘’? c . the A series matches of the National Rifle Association. The competition opens at 300 vards, with a rapid practice at the tin hat target, at which each competitor fires 10 rounds in the short space of 3i> seconds. The second practice consists of suapsliootIng at a disc target, which is exposed for ten periods of three seconds each. The competitors then advance to 200 yards and open with the tile competition, five rounds, at small iron plates, time 25 seconds, rhe final practice is tired at a moving target, at which six rounds- are fired whilst it moves across the flrer's front. The scores made in this series will be added to those made in the first series, and the winner will hold the Willoughby Cup for the ensuing year. ___________
