AUCKLAND’S AIR PAGEANT
AEROPLANES JOURNEY NORTH. By Telegraph.—Press Association.. Hawera, April 19. Three Moth ’planes, piloted by Captains J. L. Findlay, of the Air Force, J. C. 'Mercer, of the Canterbury Aero Club, and Mr. SI. O. Chandler, of the Marlborough Club, and a Bristol fighter, piloted by Captain H. B. Burrell, of the Air Force, are proceeding to the “air pageant” in Auckland. They left here at 10.20 this morning. The weather is fair, with a stiff southerly breeze. The Moths reached here last night from Christchurch and Blenheim, and the Bristol fighter arrived from Feilding'this morning, resuming the flight after refuelling. The Bristol fighter -was used by Captain Kingsford Smith on his Dominion tour last September. ARRIVAL AT DESTINATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, April 19. The four ’planes from Hawera landed safely. Captain J. C. Mercer, who had trouble in finding the aerodrome, landed three-quarters of an hour later than the others, whose time was 1 hour 55 minutes from Hawera.
