MISHAP TO FRENCH LINER
PARIS RUNS ON EDDYSTONE ROCK REFLOATS AND STEAMS TO PLYMOUTH Australian Assn. —United Service. London, April 18. The French liner Paris, which left Plymouth for New York, grounded on the Eddystone Rocks, but was later refloated. ' The damage is not ascertained. The Paris went ashore in a dense fog. There is intense anxiety at Plymouth. Destroyers rushed to the Eddystone in response to an SOS. This is the vessel’s second mishap in ten days. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, April 18. The French liner Paris, 34,600 tons, ran on to Eddystone Rock in a fog this morning. Tugs hastily went to the scene, but the tide was rising rapidly and the Paris refloated and made for Pylmouth under her own steam. She reached Plymouth in the middle of the afternoon. The passengers say there was no excitement or panic, and the crew displayed wonderful discipline. (Rec. April 19, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, April 19. The liner Paris was returning to Havre, where she was expected to-mor-row. She is to be dry-docked for exam ination.
