PETITION IN FAVOUR OF ABOLITION FIFTEEN THOUSAND SIGNATORIES SUPPORT OF PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES SOUGHT (United Press ABBociation.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright*) Australian Pres* Association. (Rec. April 19, 5.5 p.m.) London, April .19. All candidates at the election will be asked to support a petition in favour of legislation abolishing stag-hunting as a cruel sport. Fifteen thousand.signatories include Mr. Bernard Shaw, Mr. Arnold Bennett, Mr. John Galsworthy, Dr. Alfred Noyes, Miss Edith Stilwell, Miss Rebecca Vest, Mis. Maud Boyden, the Bishops of Bll ™L ham and Ripon, the Salvation Army leader, General Higgins, and l th! Ch ef Rabbi. The Labour and Liberal 1 art e. are practically unanimously supporting the petition. „ In the meantime members or t Royal Society for the Breven t 0 Cruelty to Animals voted by 312 a to 1142 in favour of a campaign aga stag-hunting. It is expected that the decision will lead to resignations from the society, which has many staghunters among its members.
