SEEN AND HEARD LAST FRIDAY DISTRICT CAREFULLY SEARCHED WELL-WATERED AREA It is reported that Anderson's monoplane was seen and heard last Friday about a hundred miles south of Wyndham, and the district is being closely searched. It is reported at Wyndham that Lieutenant Keith Anderson’s monoplane the Kookaburra was seen and heard a hundred miles south of-Wynd-ham on Friday, April 12. The report is not yet confirmed. The Canberra searched the country almost to Turkey Creek, following the rumours that Anderson was seen there. Pilot Holden continues the search to-day. Pilot Holden, in wireless messages from the Canberra, says that Mr. Griffith, his wife, four other men, and thirty natives all heard 'Anderson’s aeroplane over Turkey Creek last Friday. The rumour was confirmed by the postmistress at Turkey' Creek, who also heard the ’plane. There is plenty of water in the area searched. The two R.A.A.F. 'planes were aloft for five and a half hours yesterday. Three mqre machines of the Royal Australian Air 'Force left Point Cook to assist in the search, and will reach Oodnadatta to-day. FUEL TAKEN TO SOUTHERN CROSS CREW EAGER TO JOIN IN SEARCH (Rec. April 18, 7.50 p.m.) Sydney, April 18. News from Derby states that Pilot Heath, in a Bristol tourer, flew to the Southern Cross to-day with 90 gallons of petrol, also foodstuffs. The crew of the Southern Cross are all eager to take part in the search for Anderson and Hitchcock. SOUTHERN CROSS OFF MUDFLATS / SAFE LANDING AT DERBY (Rec. April 18, 11.50 p.m.) Sydney, April 18. The Southern Cross landed at Derby at 3.15 p.m. to-day, all well. . Mr. Albert Russell, of 118 Kelburn Parade, rang up “The Dominion” office shortly before 11 o’clock last night, and stated that the following announcement had been made from 2FC, Sydney :— “Southern Cross got safely off the mudflats, and landed at Derby at 5.20 p.m., Sydney time.” MESSAGE FROM THE CANBERRA Mr. R. L. Jones, of Lyall Bay, received the following message from the broadcast station, 2BL, Sydney, at midnight The search for Lieutenant Keith Anderson has so far been without result. The following wireless messages dispatched from the Canberra, which is conducting the search for the missing Kookaburra, were intercepted by Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Ltd., yesterd°2.4o p.m.: Again travelling south, 20 miles east of Mount Cockburn. 2.50 p.m.: Now going south along Denham. - 3 p.m.: During last three days since leaving Derby we have flown along the Wvndham and Anderson route. 3.10 p.m.: Still travelling south, crossing tributaries of the York Rivev. 3.21 p.m.—Still going south, O Donnell Brook. . _ 3.40 p.m.—Now investigating a tire south of Turkey Creek. 3.43 p.m—Now approaching fire two miles on our right. Appears to be a bush tire. The whole mountain is alight. 3.50 p.m.—Have investigated fire. There are plenty of tracks about on _ the ground. Just passed Bay of Biscay Hill. 4.7 p.m.—Just passed Alicetown station on our left. There are hills about. Can see thousands of them. It is very rough country. We think we have found Flora Valley station. 4.30 p.m.—Can see the landing ground, which is a very welcome sight. 4.41 p.m.—Now landing.
