COAL DISPUTE
COMPLETE BREAKDOWN OF NEGOTIATIONS STATEMENT BY MINERS’ FEDERATION (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rec. April 18, 8.55 p.m.) Sydney, April 18. The Coal Miners’ Federation issued a statement at the conclusion of the Coal Conference to-day, when negotiations for a settlement of the dispute completely broke down. The federation declares that it is quite apparent that the owners will agree to the reopening of the mines only on their own terms, to which the miners will not agree. The federation reiterated their challenge to the owners for a searching inquiry into the coal industry.
