FROM FAR AND NEAR Child .Fatally Scalded. —Joyce Pearcei aged three years and 10 months, a daughter of Mr. William Pearce, of Smart 1 . The British Budget.—ln the House of Commons, Mr. Baldwin announced that the Budget would be introduced on April 15, states an Australian Press Assn, message. Illicit Rum-maker Heavily Fined.—A Press Assn, message from Sydney states that Frederick Ross, convicted of illicit rum-making at Glebe, was fined £525, with costs,, this being his second offence. The police stated that defendant’s plant was capable of making two gallons of rum a day. The spirit was considerably overproof. The defendant is to remain in gaol until the fine is paid. The Prinsep Case.— ln his judgment on the Prinsep case. Mr. Justice Hill confirmed the report of the Registrar so far as Marie Lohr and the child were concerned, as the trustees took the view that the settlement was made to protect Prinsep from his own extravagance. Boy Fatally Thrown From Horse.— A fatal accident occurred at Huntly West on Tuesday, states a Press Assn, message from Hamilton. The victim was Timi Awa. aged thirteen years. Firemen Injured at Sydney During a fire which damaged Gloria House, Sydney, three tiremen were injured and four women had narrow escapes from being trapped. Two Bovs Smothered in Sand. —A Kempsey (New South Wales) message states that two boys, aged twelve, named Young and Kerrison, were buried alive at Crescent Head Beach.
