Hostilities have broken out in the Middle Yangtse between the Hankow and Nanking forces, the former attacking Nanking. The Hankow faction is receiving support from Canton, and it is believed that the Nanking Government’s future existence depends on the outcome of the present struggle. Thirty thousand Kwangsi troops are marching rapidly on Kiangsi to reinforce the Wuhan troops, and launched an attack on Government troops to-day. Communists are reported to be arming, preparing to join in the attack on the Nanking forts. BRITISH COMMANDS IN CHINA (British Official Wireloss.) Rugby, March 26. The War Office announces that the North and South China commands will be amalgamated next month. MajorGeneral Wardrop, at present commanding the British troops in North China, will return home, and the combined command will be assumed by MajorGeneral Sandilands, now commanding at Hongkong. Major-General Sandilands will remain at Hongkong with an augmented staff. The Shanghai area will be commanded as at present by Brigadier Borrett, and the Tientsin area by Brigadier Heath.
