STORMY CONDITIONS AHEAD
AUSTRALIAN WEATHER WARNING ' (Australian Press Association.! . . (Rec. Starch 3, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, March 2. The Weather Bureau on Saturday warned shipping that stormy conditions were imminent on the north coast. The cyclone is centred in the neighbourhood of Norfolk Island, and is moving southwards.
“MOST SEVERE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.”
. The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department received the following message from Radio, Sydney, at 5.28 a.m. on Sunday:—
“Special weather report at 6 p.m.: On the coast of New South Wales strong south to south-west winds generally. with rough seas north from Moruya Heads. The very severe cyclone is now probably centred about two hundred miles to the south-south-east of Lord Howe Island, and is moving slowly south-eastward. Very severe south to south-west gales and rough to very high seas between the coast and long. 155 degree, and very severe north-east to east and south-east gales, probably south from lat. 32 degrees and east from long. 156 degrees to about New Zealand, with rough to very high seas. This cyclone disturbance is the most severe for a number of years.”
