TOSSED BY A BULL

A NARROW ESCAPE. Dominion Special Service. Nelson, March 1. A few days ago James Page, junr., of Waitapu, had a lucky escape from death when he was attacked by a Jersey bull which he was leading by a chain. Page stopped at a fence, and when untying the wires in order to allow the passage of the animal it charged him, catching him on the ribs with its horns and throwing him through the fence. The bull followed Page and tossed him back over the fence, following this up with tossing him against a post. Striking out with his feet, Page managed to deal the bull a severe kick, causing it to step back a few feet, when Page made his escape. Page is suffering from shock and severe bruises. The animal was immediately destroyed.
