PROVINCIAL PERSONALS

Professor Riddet, of Massey Agricultural College, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr. G. Bush, of Auckland, is visiting Palmerston North. A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. S. Mawley, whose son, Mr. H. H. Mawley, is a member of the board, was passed at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. Dr. Watson, of Bulls, has returned from Auckland.

Mr. L. Gros, of Sydney, is paying a visit to old friends in the Wanganui district.

Mr. N. Holder has returned to Kaitieke from Wanganui. Dr. Price, who has been in Bulls for a short period, has returned to Auckland, with Mrs. Price. Prior to the commencement of business at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Mr. W. Harte, clerk of the Court at Masterton, was the recipient of a presentation of crystal ware from members of the legal profession. Mr. Harte will shortly leave Masterton, on promotion, for Timaru. In making the presentation, Mr. H. S. L. Robinson, senior member of the Bar, congratulated Mr. Harte on his promotion, and referred to the satisfaction he had always given members of the profession in Masterton. He expressed the hope that Mr. and Mrs. Harte would enjoy happiness and success in their new position. Mr. J. Miller, S.M., stated that he desired to concur with the wishes for success expressed by Mr. Robinson. Mr. Harte had always given the speaker very able assistance, as he had done to many Magistrate’s with, whom he had been associate.. It was a matter for regret that Mr. Harte was leaving; he had combined with bis official duties a happy nature, and a readiness to assist. With his qualifications. Mr. Miller said, he felt sure that Mr. Harte would go far in the service. Mr. Harte suitably replied. SUMMER FURS. Although our summer is late, and it may be thought too warm to think if furs, one needs to remember that we seldom have warm evenings.
