LINDBERG CRASHES

AEROPLANE OVERTURNS ON , LANDING FIANCEE A PASSENGER Australian Press Association. Mexico City, February 27. Colonel Lindbergh, returning to the Valbuena Flying Field from a flight over the neighbouring volcano peaks with his fiancee, Miss Anne Morrow, crashed in landing. After, a thirtyfoot run the aeroplane overturned. Neither party suffered injury, except that Lindbergh had a slightly bruised wrist. He told the horror-stricken onlookers :“I have nothing to say.” He then explained that he had landed at an adjacent field where he dropped one wheel as he took off. He then proceeded to Valbuena where he tipped over in .trying to land on one wheel. He said that it was not an accident, but a “mishap.” Colonel Lindbergh and Miss Morrow picked themselves up, and went to an automobile and departed for Mexico City. Witnesses state that a fatal disaster was prevented only by Lindbergh’s skilful attempt to make a slow landing.
