Indigestion and most digestive troubles are caused by excess acidity due to the fermentation of food Which remains in the stomach longer than it should do owing to weakened stomach muscles. As this acidity increases it sets up further fermentation, and the sufferer endures intense pain, as the stomach is dilated by gases.
