THE RED ARMY
ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
("Times” Cables.)
London, February 25.
“The Times” correspondent at Riga says that celebrations of the Red Army’s eleventh anniversary included shooting matches, a demonstration by five thousand military ski-runners, and the handing over to the Red Army of four new aeroplanes constructed from proletarian subscriptions to “Our Reply to Chamberlain Fund.” Speeches broadcasted over Russia declare that the capitalist Governments cannot be trusted, and therefore peace pacts do not affect the necessity for the maintaining of the Red Army. The present strength is 522.000. The speeches urged the strengthening of the Air Force and chemical warfare preparations, lest Poland and other border States open hostilities.
