In the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and South Australia, Queensland in the second innings made 181 for the loss of nine wickets (Levy not out 85, Oxenham 17). Grimmett took five wickets for 57. Queensland won by one wicket after a sensational ending. When nine wickets were down .Queensland required one run to win. Levy was batting and hit one to Grimmett, who dropped it; he then flung the ball disgustedly to Wall, who missed, and the batsmen ran one for an overthrow and won the match.
