AN APPEAL DISMISSED

CONCERNING A STONE DRESSING MACHINE. Judgment was deivered yesterday by the Arbitration Court in the appeal of the Inspector of Awards at Auckland against a decision given by a Magistrate in favour of the Hansford and Mills Construction Co., Ltd. The case concerned a stone-dressing machine in use on the construction of the Auckland railway station, the question to be decided being whether it was within the meaning of the award a surfacing machine or a hand-surfacing machine, and it was against this decision that an appeal was made. The Arbitration Court, by a majority, upheld the Magistrate’s decision and dismissed the appeal.
