RUGBY FOOTBALL

SEATOUN CLUB FORMED

An enthusiastic meeting of Rugby players and supporters was held at Seatoun last night to consider the formation of a club. After discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr. T. E. Beard, to form a club to be called the Seatoun Rugby Football Club. ' Mr. Beard stressed the point that by forming the club it was not intended to encroach on the preserves of the Soccer code, but that in a growing district such as Seatoun there was no reason why the two bodies should not work amicably together. Sir. D. R. Richmond, in supporting the motion, endorsed the remarks of Sir. Beard. Among those present at the meeting was Mr. G. F. N. Jackson, treasurer of the Wellington Rugby Union, who apologised for the absence of the president of the Union (Sir. J. Prendeville). He congratulated Seatoun on forming tbe club, and promised every assistance posA sub-committee was formed consisting of Messrs. K. Staff, H. Boon, A. Klee, T. Tucker and R. G. Luxford, to consider rules and grading and to report to a general meeting to be called for February 27. About sixty members were enrolled. The preparatory work of Slessrs. N. Avery and R. A. Robertson was the subject of appreciative comment. Votes of thanks were accorded the chairman (Mr. W. W. Cook) and Mr. Jackson.
