A RECORD SEASON

FOR OVERSEAS AND LOCAL TOURISTS

Speaking yesterday in reference to tire tourist season generally, Mr. H. Desborougb, manager for Thos. Cook and Son, stated that the bookings here for overseas tours this season have been very brisk, and from the present, outlook, it will surpass any previous season in the volume of business done. One outstanding feature of the present season’s bookings has been the numerous inquiries and bookings for tours in Egypt- and through the Holy Land, which may be attributed, in part at all events, to the general improvement in travel and comfort, consequent upon the change of control in the affairs of Palestine, and the facility which such tours can now be made without undue loss of time. Travel within New Zealand has tills summer broken all previous records. All the popular resorts—Rotorua, the Hermitage, and the Franz Josef Gia-cier--have been in such favour that at times it has been difficult to secure accommodation without booking ahead.
