MUTINY OF CHINESE TROOPS
CITIES SACKED FOREIGNERS TAKE REFUGE ON WARSHIPS (Australian Press Association.) Shanghai, January 27. Mutiny broke out in a division of native, troops, remnants of the exGovernor Chang Chung Chang’s army, stationed at in the Shantung Province. The coast cities of Lingkow, Hwanghsiei), and TengchowFn were sacked and foreign residents compelled to flee for safety aboard two Japanese warships. Twenty thousand Nationalist troops have been dispatched from Ninghai to quash the rebellion. The mutineers looted every building. emptied the armoury, and killed three high military officers and the chairman of the Hwanglisien Chamber of Commerce.
