MISSING CHAIRMAN
SHAREHOLDERS DECLINE TO PASS ACCOUNTS. : (Australian Press Association.) London, . January 2-1. ./ A meeting of .'the' shareholders of Nersag, Ltd., declined to pass the accounts and decided to appoint two new directors. Mr. Hackett, one of the new directors, who presided, presented a fresh account showing a deficiency of. £27,047, whereas the original balance-sheet (signed by the missing chairman, Braudreth, and his wife) showed a profit of £104,000. Mr. Hackett stated ,-that Brandreth had a ten "years’ agreement with the company .for £l5OO a year, plus an allowance.of £lOOO fOr travelling expenses and a commission of 3J per cent, on all sales. His wife’s remuneration was £3OO and £2OO for travelling expenses. Their whereabouts was still unknown? Books and papers relating to one sdt of transactions are missing. Brandreth had said that his gardener burned them under a misapprehension. ..(Laughter.) Mr. Hackett said he thought some sales which Brandreth said were made had never occurred, the entries relating to them being fictitious. ' .
