FIND OF AMBERGRIS

LODGED IN BANK FOR SAFETY Dominion Special Service. Auckland, January 16. “It looked like a log with marine growth on it,” said Mr. P. J. Anderson this morning, in describing the recent finding of a block of ambergris weighing 2701 b., near the North Spit, at Kaipara Harbour. The ambergris was brought to Auckland yesterday, and has been lodged at the Bank of New Zealand until its value is assessed. Mr. Anderson was one of the party camping near the Kaipara North Head. The find was made by Mr. V. Subritzky.
