MAGISTRATE’S COURT

BY-LAW AND CIVIL CASES ' A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr. T. McNiel, S.M., when by-law cases were dealt with. Henry Biddle, who lit a lire in the open without a permit, was lined 10s. The following were fined for speeding in their motor vehicles:—James E. Mitchell, £3; Jack H. Mills, Peter Tait, Geoffrey Purcell, each £2; George Atkinson, £l. Charles Edward Blaney and Auralaiau Money were each charged with leaving a motor vehicle unattended. The former was ordered to pay 10s. and the latter ss. For failing to produce a driver's license when called upon, William F. Cowan, Raymond Gougli and Wm. Jackson were each fined £l, while Louie Christian was ordered to pay 10s. Patrick Anderson, who was found guilty of falling to stop his motor-car after an accident, was lined £3. He pleaded guilty to a charge of having no lights, and was ordered to pay £2. Arthur William Ash said he was fishing nt the time he was supposed to fail in stopping his motor-cycle at the request of a constable. The Magistrate decided that a fine of £2 would meet the case. On a charge of dangerous riding he was fined £5. William C. Hawker, who caused an obstruction with a motor-lorry, was fined 30s. Charged with having a inotor-car not under proper control, Henry T. Winans was ordered to pay costs only, 10s. Emil Johannsen and Arnold J. Maberly were each fined 10s. for having no lights on their motor-cars. Cutting a corner with a horse and cart cost Patrick Sullivan ss. On a charge of passing a stationary tramcar with a motor-car, Leopold De Erneste was fined 10s. Penalties were imposed on the following for dangerous driving:—Frederick J. Bradley, Douglas H. Philip, Clifford W. Ross, Robert Shearer, each £3; Wm. F. Cowan, £4; Geo. Alfred Flitcroft, Alfred Mewton, Jack H. Duncan, each £2; Richard Garwood, £l. A fine of £1 was imposed on Chas. F. Butler for failing to give way at an intersection. CIVIL CASES
